Took backpacking twice. Lightweight and useful tool. It is not necessary, but when your bowels need a hole in a hurry, it’s nice to not have to search for the right stick or stone to dig it. The pretty color does wear off on the edges if you are battling rocky soil. My trail mates borrowed as needed. Perhaps it just makes you feel a little less crappy about what you are doing.I got the size 2 as it seems to be the sweet spot for what you'll need. I try to keep my pack as light as possible but with capable gear and this fits the bill. Highly recommend! This has lived up to exactly what it was said to do. Great - highly recommended.I bought these for my son and I to take on a 40-mile backpacking trip that we did with his Scouts BSA Troop. I got the medium sized one. It was perfect! Lightweight and compact, so very easy to pack. I was the only female on the trip, so discretion while taking care of business was important to me! I love the bright colors as well, because I didn't loose it in the weeds! It is very light and pretty sturdy for its weight and material. This is ultralight weight and works great. No complaints.Works great, lightVery compactGet the bigger one #3 unless you’re number twos are rabbit sized in witch case get the smaller #2 size because you’re probably not built to carry the extra 10 grams in wieght.Brilliant trowel, but price is mad to buy I would wait for reasonable as other website cost 20-25 for #3 as all other website running out of stock so Amazon got this available for 32.50 pounds include devilery.I need it as im hiker with big fan of NLT And respectful to nature.it is worth big and light, plenty to dig down fast.Only thing annoy is hold it when dig still better performance that other trowel price X lightweight X quality dig all tick.Worth 5 stars for me. Maybe buy small version in future. It's light. The compromise to any ultralight kit is strength. You can only use it carefully and you can't lever it as per its enclosed instructions. It was exactly what I wanted though and I only ever plop in a hole if I absolutely have to!! So when I use it for real I will be careful not to bend it.Bought size #2 which is just big enough for what it needs to be used for, for my larger hands. Tested out in the hills on some thick, tussocky grass. Performed well but not effortlessly. I've got every confidence that this will be excellent in less tough vegetation and looser soil.Might be handy if you're camping on the beach, but there is no way this will cut through the kind of turfy, heathery landscape I tend to poo in
